Creative Schools
Here in Saint Feichín’s National School, we strongly believe in promoting creativity and the arts. We have participated in the Creative Schools initiative over the last number of years to expand opportunities for our pupils to be creative and to engage with the arts.
This initiative is funded by the Arts Council and supports schools to put the arts and creativity at the heart of children’s and young people’s lives. This initiative provides opportunities for children and young people to build their artistic and creative skills; to communicate, collaborate, stimulate their imaginations, be inventive, and to harness their curiosity.
Over the last number of years, our pupils have had the opportunity to participate in a number of music workshops, including jazz and percussion. This year, our pupils had the opportunity to work with a professional filmmaker to create a film about their own locality. They created and produced their own film with the help of award winning film maker Graham Cantwell. We are very proud of our film, our school and our local area!
