Cake Sale
We had our Christmas Cake Sale last Sunday the 10th of December. We had lots of delicious cakes and cookies on offer. We are glad that a lot of families participated. The P.A. organised four hampers and the children of the school sold lines for these four hampers. One of the hampers was a meat and chilled food hamper.
There were also things for children like “Lucky Dips” and “Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar”. In the lucky dip there were lots of toys. Ava guessed the number of sweets in the jar. Some of the students made and decorated cakes, biscuits and some Christmas decorations. Eleanor made a lovely cheese cake and Conn made biscuits. Fiachra made traditional, Christmas logs. We were very happy to see all the families enjoying our annual school cake sale.

Engineering Projects
The children have recently finished their engineering projects in Ms. Muldoon’s room. This is a competition by STEPS Young Engineer Award and they had to choose a project that will benefit the community. They first had to draw out a plan/design and they then had to make a prototype. They also had a visit from an engineer named Ivan who works for a company called Fraser Ross. The projects were made out of cardboard and they made an indoor football pitch and traffic lights. The class had an amazing time making all the projects and meeting Ivan the engineer. See our STEM page for pictures.
Olympic Handball
On Thursday, Mr. Bourke’s class went outside for P.E. After a quick warm-up we played a game like musical chairs except that you had to pick up a cone. We played a game of walking tag. Afterwards we split into teams and played a game of Olympic Handball. Olympic Handball is a game where you can’t move when you have the ball. There was a knock-out tournament with four teams. Team one played team two, team two played well but were defeated. A second game was played between team three and team four but team three was triumphant. Team one was victorious in the final. Mr. Bourke’s class had great craic.
