On the 1st of February, the Credit Union Quiz was held in Hollymount hall. It started at 11.00 a.m. We had two teams participating in the competition. Lauren, Danny, Ryan and Julia were on our U11 team and on our U13 team was Daragh, Conn, Eleanor and Sean.
There were 10 rounds for all and 2 extra rounds for the U13s. There were 6 questions per round. The U11s came 4th. They got 43 questions right out of 60. For third place there was a tiebreaker. There were 3 teams on 44 points and our neighbours Cong N.S. won by 1 point.
Our U13 team beat Claremorris B.N.S. by 4 points We received a plaque each, a laptop and a shield.
We were very happy with our great achievement as were our teachers and parents. We are practising hard for the next round!

Creative Schools
Our Creative Schools’ “Art Squad”, with the help of Catherine, decided upon a creative project to explore with the whole school in the upcoming weeks.
Our “Art Squad” consists of pupils from 2nd to 6th. We combined our ideas to come up with project ideas.
After deciding on an array of topics, we held a general vote to determine the theme for the project. Following on from the vote came the tedious, but important matter of counting every vote. ( We pity the ballot counters in the upcoming election!!!)
In the end the theme “ Exploring Music” triumphed by quite a few votes and will become our topic for the Creative Schools project. Everyone is looking forward to the weeks ahead with Catherine, our Creative Schools mentor, who hopefully will inspire us all to be as creative as we can be.

St Brigid's Day
We made St. Brigid’s crosses to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day. The children from the senior classes made them with help from Mr Bourke and Mrs Gillon. Some students brought in rushes from their fields so we could make them. Fr. Declan came in and blessed them for everyone in the class. He also gave us a tip – varnishing them makes them last longer.
