The county final against Kilmovee N.S. started at 4.30 pm on Thursday, 6th June. The starting team was Patrick in goal, Daragh and Eoin in backs, Tom and Evan in midfield, and Jack and Luke in forwards.
The score at half time was 2-4 to 0-5 to Cross. In the second half Kilmovee came back to lead by 1 point. Tom scored a great point. There was one minute left and Tom passed the ball to Daragh who passed it to Evan. Then Evan shot and scored a goal and the crowd went wild!!
Kilmovee moved the ball down the field and then took a shot and we blocked it. Then they had another shot and we blocked that one too. Finally we got the ball and hammered it up the pitch. The referee blew his whistle and we had won the match.
We went up the steps to accept the Bank of Ireland Cumann na mBunscol trophy. Our captain Tom and vice-captain Eoin lifted the cup and we all received a medal. Tom made a very good speech and the crowd clapped loudly.
The last time the school won it was 2006. Stephen Morrin, Connor O Haire, Aidan O Sullivan and the rest of the lads brought the cup back to Cross that time.
Bonfires awaited us on our return to Cross. We are all very proud.
