On the 13th of June, everyone from third, fourth, fifth and sixth classes went to Killary Adventure Centre for our school tour. The bus left our school at 8am in the morning and arrived in Killary at 9.30am.  We were put into groups when we arrived.
We took part in some excellent activities such as the giant swing, the climbing wall, gorge walking and raft building.  Lunch was from 1.00pm to 2.00pm.
We arrived back at school at 6.30pm, tired but delighted.

Soup Making

On Tuesday we made soup with Ms.Presnail and Ms.Gillon. We started making the soup early in the morning so it would be ready for lunch. We started by peeling the potatoes, parsnips and carrots with our peelers. The vegetables we used were dug from our school garden. It was hard work peeling vegetables but we persevered and boy was it worth it.

Tom’s granny had very kindly made gorgeous, fresh scones which we were able to share. Tom managed to have a full scone but in fairness he brought them in. The soup was top class, it was so nice, the taste of parsnip, which we had brought from home, was lovely.

We put all the chopped vegetables in a bowl and Ms. Gillon brought it up to the kitchen and started to make the soup. Ms.Gillon brought down the soup for us to eat before lunch. It was scrumptious.

Bumbleance

On Tuesday 11th of June, we supported the charity  “Bumbleance”. Our former football trainer Majella’s daughter Lily is going cut her hair for the charity. We wore our jerseys to school and everyone gave a donation.

Athletics

On Friday this week we went to Claremorris Athletics Club to take part in a non-competitive athletics competition with other schools. There were races such as the 60m, 80m ,100m, 200m, 400m and 800m for boys and girls. hen there was a 60m hurdles race. There were also javelin, shot put and long jump competitions. At the end each school and all the teachers ran a lap. It was a great day.
