This week is Seachtain na Gaeilge. We celebrate our Irish Culture during this special week. We did Irish dancing (The Stack of Barley), watched Irish programmes, sang Irish songs, recited Irish poems and listened to traditional Irish music. We all made a great effort to use the cúpla focal throughout the school day.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
Second class are busy preparing for their Sacrament of Reconciliation which will take place Thursday next, the 21st of March at 7pm. Their First Holy Communion will take place on the 18th of May.
Lá Fhéile Pádraig
We entered the annual art competition for St. Patrick's Day in Ballinrobe. This year the theme was “I'm a believer” which was quite a wide theme this year.
A few days later we got the results. Aisling Murphy had got second place in the U13 age group because of her excellent drawing of a leprechaun.
The junior classroom made very jolly leprechaun masks. Firstly they coloured in a template on card before sticking bright green crepe/tissue/coloured paper all over the hat and shamrock. Finally, they stuck shiny gold paper on the buckle and attached an elastic band to the back.
The first class coloured some beautiful shamrocks.
All in all, our patron saint was honoured very well in our school.
