We had a marvellous day in Ballinrobe on Tuesday. We took part in the F.A.I. Primary School 5s Programme. Everyone played really well but we are delighted that the boys' team won the final and have now qualified for the County Final. On Thursday we were delighted to welcome author, Kate Kelly, from Glencorrib. Kate has written stories about a local hedgehog called Hayward. Kate was very interesting and she told us all about Hayward who lives in her garden. We discussed the hedgehog's habitat, food and way of life. We talked about some other wildlife such as the kingfisher, the shrew and the bat. We had a lovely time with Kate and we especially enjoyed when she read an extract from her book. Mothers' Day is on Sunday and we made some lovely things this week. All classes created cards and pictures. The Junior Room children made cards which contained a tea bag so their mammies may have a cuppa before or after the match in Croke Park. Ms. Muldoon's room made beautiful pots for their mothers. They shaped them from clay, dried and painted them. Mr. Bourke's room created some fantastic farm pictures. They drew farmyards and used stencils to create the animals. Look at how colourful they are. Check out our STEM page to meet our young engineers who were shortlisted for the STEPS Young Engineers Award. The children in Ms. Muldoon's room explored levers this week. Go over to our STEM page for more details.
